Before changing your strings there are a few things you will need to help your installation easy.
1. A BOW PRESS . Is needed to compress the limbs just enough to relax the tension off the string and cable. A really good portable press is the Ratchet Press and very affordable.
2. A CAMERA Is needed to take pictures of how the string is connected to the cam or cams and as to how the string is positioned in the grooves. Direction of travel and the connection to the correct pegs is very important in getting the bow back to working order.
3. A ALAN WRENCH This tool is used for loosening the limb bolts.
4. AND CONFIDENCE Changing your string and cables is not as hard as it looks, YOU CAN DO IT.
5. Lets get started.
6. Please take as many pictures as possible so you can look at your pictures and know exactly what string or cable goes to where. You can even attach a piece of masking tape and write on it..
7. Take your alan wrench and loosen the limb bolts 3 full turns if your limbs are tightened all the way down to the limb pockets. If they are not fully tightened back off 1 to 2 turns then you will be okay.
8. Attaching your bow press to the limbs of your bow. Please follow the directions very carefully for your bow press as to how to attach it to your bow if you are using a portable press. After attaching the press to your bow slowly start to tighten the press. We only want to relax the string as to where you may have to move the cam a little to take off the string and cable or cables.
9. You can start with either cable or string. Slowly move the cam to remove the end loop off the cam peg and follow the string or cable to the other end to where it is attached and un hook it. Now take the string or cable you removed and match it to your new one. Remove the paper clip from your new string or cable and attach it to the same pegs you removed the one you just took off. Be carful as to not untwist your string for it is all ready for inatallation.
10. Continue to the next string or cable till you are finished installing the new string and cable or cables.
11. Look at pictures to make sure you attached the new strings correctly and they are in the correct cam grooves. If all looks the same then slowly start to relax your press which will start adding pressure back to your limbs also adding tension to your string. After removing the press from the bow now re tighten your limb bolts exactly the same amount of turns you backed them off. And now you are done with the installation process of your new string and cables. Congradulations you made it.
